Hogwarts in the snow - Harry Potter Studio Tour! (ADITL)

Hello everybody!
On January 12th, my boyfriend and I visited the Harry Potter studio tour in London. As we're both massive HP nerds, I bought tickets for us for Christmas, as neither of us had ever been. Our tour started at 2pm, but we got there a little early (an hour and a half early!!), so we spent that time looking around the souvenir shop, playing on the digital guides and having lunch in the cafe there.

At the beginning of the tour, they show you a couple of videos with the makers, producers, cast and crew, including Daniel, Emma and Rupert talking about the Harry Potter franchise. It starts in the set of the Great Hall and then displays props, sets, costumes and so many more Harry Potter related items.

One of my favourite parts of the tour was the chance to try Butterbeer! I think it's one of only three places in the world to sell Butterbeer with the 'offical' recipe. If you like sweet, creamy drinks then you'll definitely love it as much as I did.

Diagon Alley was another one of my favourite parts of the tour, featuring Olivander's wand shop, Florish and Blotts and of course the Weasley brother's joke shop! You could see all the tiny details and props they put into the sets, such as all the wand boxes in Olivander's (apparently 17,000 of them!) and the different robes, owl cages and books.

After all the sets and props was the artwork, sketches, designs and masks for all the different creatures. Coming to near the end of the tour, there is a model of the Hogwarts castle and grounds that they had covered in snow to celebrate the Christmas period. You can't really capture the whole model in one picture but it looked so pretty covered in snow!

We got a little bit carried away in the gift shop, and accidently spent £75 between us, oops! We both got chocolate frogs, key rings and souvenir tour guides, Andy got an elder wand and I got the Tales of Beedle the Bard and a Dobby magnet. My timeturner keyring even has a little sand timer in the middle!

I would definitely recommend a trip here to anyone who is interested in Harry Potter, or those who are interested in film making, designing and creating costumes. We had a such an amazing time and I can't wait to go again in the future!

Hope you enjoyed this 'a day in the life' post,
Melanie xo
